In February 2020, Vila Vitorino has renovated two guesthouses (Vitorino I and Vitorino II) and an old house (Vitorino Deluxe) at the top of the hill of the Natural park; for those who looks for an immersive travel experience much more in contact with nature and local culture.
Just 7 minutes drive from the Chalet, Vitorinos’ properties were used to provide fresh vegetables, fruits and pure mineral spring water to the main house in old days.
Vitorino’s properties are located at the highest point of Penedo village, one of the three finalists as the most typical Portuguese villages in a natura park. The village is situated in an unexplored, peaceful and calm area of the hill. Between Almoçageme, Colares and Pé da Serra.
Penedo is the highest village in Serra de Sintra, with a privileged view over the landscape of the Natural Park. This is an ideal spot for travelers looking for a place away from problems and crowded places, those who appreciate to be in contact with nature.
Its privileged location allows people to reach important touristic spots in a short period of time, from the coast (4 km) to Lisbon (35 km).
The area around the properties are ideal for nature lovers: you can simply walk along the forest trails or, for people with a good level of fitness, ride a bike in the uneven mountain landscape (some cycling circuits are nearby).
We strongly recommend hiring a car, since public transports do not reach this little village. Taxi and uber services are available in the area.

In Penedo you will just find a local restaurant and a café. For basic shopping, the nearest supermarket is in Almoçageme or Colares, about 2 km away. In the area, there are local markets with fresh vegetables and fruits, wines and all other supplies, at the weekends.
